Veterinary confirmation
I confirm that Dr. Petra Block and Mr. Daniel Siegfried Block have a 700-strong flock of mountain sheep for extracting of living cells, which has been closed in itself for many years.
This flock is supervised with professional veterinary care from the Animal Health Service Bayern e.V., (veterinary department Sheep Health Service) for more than 15 years.
Since the early use as donor animals the guidelines and health monitoring have been intensified in accordance with the guidelines for the collection of sterile cell-therapeutic material.
After clinical examination the selected sheep are examined with blood sample testing for collusive, currently relevant zoonoses:
Maedi, Q fever, brucellosis, chlamydiosis, toxoplasmosis (with titer) and seven serovars leptospirosis (with titer).
The necessary investigations are carried out in the laboratories of the Bavarian Animal Health Service and the Society and Parasitology / Institute for Hygiene and Infectious Diseases of Animals of Justus-Liebig University of Giessen.
Until the result (3-4 weeks) the animals sampled are housed separately and repeatedly monitored by veterinarians.
All sheep which will be used from the Center for Live Cell Therapy Dr. will be examined in the laboratory again on the day before slaughter (clinical examination, body temperature,…) and from EDTA blood leukocytes and hematocrit values.
